Is It Love? Or is it Selfishness?

as jehovah's witnesses, we are programmed to believe that what we do is out of love.

love for god, our family and neighbors.

this sounds good and it feels good.

hello everybody, i studied with the jehovah's about 10 years ago, was never baptized, never a publisher, never really did anything, went to a few of the watchtime meetings.

my purpose at the time was a study on comparative religion, which i eventually became a student of in full practice.

of all the organizations i met with, the witnesses were the most friendly at first, welcoming me to ask many questions about the bible.

Field Service time wasters

last saturday morning, i ran to the hardware store.

a former co (retired in a circuit provided house) was in the hardware store.

i stopped at starbucks....more jw's.

I don't believe that in my time going to the hall that I ever saw a pioneer bring in anything but a study or two to the hall. Never seen one of them make it through to baptism. My father in law who served as an elder for many years from the late 60's thru the 70's and never more than aux pioneered sporadically brought in nearly 20 to the congregation. His wife studied with their wives so she brought in about the same number and never pioneered at all. His second wife has been pioneering for over 15 years has yet to bring in ONE person.

Back in Albuquerque a pioneer in the Spanish congregation used to be at all the meetings and was always in service. Several times she would say she had to run to a study or a rv and left the group. We would invariably see her DRIVING. She also to my knowledge never brought a single person passed the "Study" stage of the game. No doubt she and my wife's step mom have done humanity a greater service by either setting a bad example and losing the stdy's interest or by driving past doors and never stoppong in the first place.

dad was a great man, great, despite the religion.

he was powerful, tall and intelligent, yet humble and kind.

he was an introvert, and a circuit overseer.

it's time that matters of serious concern and sufficient weight be broached on jwn .... on two separate occasions i amazed myself by an uncanny ability to perform inadvertent feats of personal skill and prowess.

first: i tossed an empty paper towel tube toward the trash bin but missed (on purpose, of course).

My dad once was showing my brother and I to chop wood. He placed a log onto a stump and with a mighty swing of his ax, split the log into to equal pieces. One piece leaped and then landed into its place upon the wood pile. The other lept straight to its death atop the FIRE! My dad sat down, took a sip of his beer and said, "THAT'S how it's done!"

When Water Guns Threaten A Religion

today's wall street journal has a front page article about how squirt guns are viewed as a threat to the iranian theocracy.

young people there are being arrested and beaten by authorities who condemn water pistols as 'immoral'.

there have been open water fights with police and forced confessions on iranian tv.

Anyone who claims to have the backing of the Almighty of the Universe is an ASS HAT and I will tell them to their face the following words. "Sir you are an ass hat because you wear your ass as a hat..."

I mean seriously....A water pistol or a super soaker are the big threat to these clowns...NOT the Ak-47's, RPG's and the maniacs who wage war with them. It's a spray gun....I repeat...ASS HATS

it's a convention, for some reason you are now up on stage with the mic, the auditorium falls silent awaiting your inspirational thoughts, no one knows you no longer believe, amidst the crowd are many close friends and direct family.

you will never, ever get another chance like this, this is a life changing opportunity.

you will have maybe 10 seconds before they cut the mike.

Im being disfellowshipped

i was supposed to go to a judical meeting on sat but i told the elders i wasnt going but they held it anyway.

its going to be announced that im going to be disfellowshipped at the weekend.

hate the fact my parents wont talk to me anymore.
